Shoe Store ....
Attending a concert at Macombe Performing Arts Center and have some time previous to the concert to shop, Looks like there are plenty of places to shop... but we are particularly in need of finding a shoe store with good prices on men's running shoes (atheletic shoes) and/or hiking shoes. Is there an outlet store in the area or a shoe store that might happen to run specials such as buy one get the 2nd half price or the like. Thanks for any advice....
If you’re heading to a concert at (assuming you mean that or another nearby venue) and want to grab a pair of men’s running or hiking shoes in Utica before the show — yes, there are a few shoe stores near you that tend to carry athletic or outdoors-style shoes and sometimes run sales or outlet-style pricing. Here are some good bets and what to expect.
Here are several nearby shoe-store options that are likely to have men’s running/hiking or athletic shoes at reasonable prices:
- — Located at 13917 Hall Rd, Utica. This store routinely offers athletic sneakers and casual shoes for men (and women and kids), often with deals or discounts compared to retail stores.
- — Located at 8409 Hall Rd, Utica. This is a specialty running store, which carries branded running shoes (Nike, Adidas, Brooks, etc.) and offers fitting advice. Good option especially if you care about comfort and fit for running or hiking.
- — At Northpointe Center (45230 Northpointe Blvd, Utica). As a large sporting-goods chain, they usually carry a broad selection of men’s running shoes, general athletic sneakers, and occasionally hiking shoes. They also tend to run promotions or have sale sections.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what each store is best at — depending on what you want (price, performance, convenience):
- Best for bargains / outlet pricing: SKECHERS Warehouse Outlet — good chance to find athletic shoes at lower prices than standard retail. Great for casual running shoes or sneakers for general use.
- Best for serious running / hiking shoes and fit advice: Hansons Running Shop — because it’s a local running-specialty store, you’re likely to find high-quality running shoes (and maybe light hiking shoes/boots), and staff can help fit based on your foot and intended use.
- Best for variety and last-minute needs: DICK’S Sporting Goods — broad selection from budget to premium athletic shoes, often with frequent sales and discounts. Good if you want to compare brands quickly or shop for hiking shoes too.
Some extra suggestions and tips to maximize your chances of getting a good deal before the concert:
- Call the store ahead to check inventory — especially for specific sizes or hiking-style shoes (some stores focus more on running/sneakers rather than hiking boots).
- Go earlier in the day if possible — outlet or discount stores like SKECHERS often have better stock earlier, and running shops like Hansons might get busier closer to evening.
- Ask about sales or clearance sections — chain stores such as DICK’S often rotate older stock into sale bins, which can mean good deals.
- Consider comfort and intended use — if you want hiking-ready shoes (for a hike, not just walking around), prioritize quality and fit (Hansons or a quality running/hiking shoe from DICK’S). If you just want a comfy pair for walking or casual wear, outlet sneakers from SKECHERS may work fine.
Based on convenience and price, for a quick pre-concert stop, I’d personally recommend starting with SKECHERS Warehouse Outlet for good budget options or Hansons Running Shop if you want comfort and quality running or hiking shoes. If neither works out, DICK’S Sporting Goods is a reliable fallback with a wide brand selection and frequent discounts.
