Spectacular Nebuta Festival Lanterns

The Aomori Nebuta Festival, held annually in early August, is one of the most important festivals in Aomori. Although my visit was still over 60 days away from this world-famous event, I was able to learn more about the history of the Nebuta Festival through the Nebuta Museum WA・RASSE, which also showcases the massive lanterns that have participated in past festivals.

Standing in front of these enormous lanterns and admiring their grandeur up close is a truly awe-inspiring experience. It fills you with a sense of happiness while also making you feel small in comparison.

The building's exterior is uniquely designed, looking stunning from every angle. Inside, the high-ceilinged lobby feels spacious and open. There's even a spot in the lobby for stamping commemorative seals—don’t miss it if you love collecting stamps!
