I stayed at Kaisenkaku in Asamushi Onsen, about a 20-minute ride on the local Aoimori Railway from Aomori Station.
After checking in, I was guided to the lounge, where I was given a thorough explanation of the hotel and then enjoyed drinks and snacks.
The room offered a serene view of Mutsu Bay and Yunoshima Island.
The large bath also offered a good view of the ocean. In the afternoon, the sun shone brightly.
Dinner was an unusual half-buffet.
After enjoying appetizers and sashimi, including Aomori's specialty scallops, I was free to choose from the buffet menu in the live kitchen.
Every dish was so delicious that I was so full I couldn't finish it...I wish I had eaten more meat. (Tears)
The menu was packed with a wide variety of dishes, including freshly baked beef stew pie, sushi made right in front of me, and limited-quantity tuna belly meat, and I was very satisfied.
There's also a plan that allows you to dine on kaiseki cuisine while watching the Nebuta show.
After dinner, I enjoyed some free-flowing drinks and snacks in the lounge and relaxed for a bit.
While I was there, a live Tsugaru shamisen performance took place on the lobby stage.
It was a live performance I'd rarely heard, and it was incredibly powerful and moving.
I think most of the guests were listening.
The breakfast buffet was also extensive, making it hard to decide what to order.
The Aomori specialty, grilled scallops with miso, was the perfect pairing with rice!
I ate so much the night before that I didn't have much to eat in the morning...tears.
The gift shop had a wide variety of Aomori specialties for sale.
I bought some Aomori hiba wood chips.
As a foodie, this was a wonderful inn that left me wanting to try even more food when I return!
