[Egypt Travel] Nubian Village 🤴🏿 The ethnic group closest to the ancient Egyptians

Nubian Village was my favorite stop in Egypt. With its colorful buildings and playful murals on the walls, the village is instantly recognizable as a cultural gem. Located in the southern region of Aswan, it's home to the Nubian people for generations.

They possess a unique language and traditions. It's said that Nubians don't intermarry with outsiders, leading them to be considered the closest living group to the ancient Egyptians. The villagers are incredibly welcoming, and some families even keep crocodiles at home. As part of their traditional culture, visitors can observe these crocodiles up close and experience their unique way of life.

Beyond its cultural charm, it's also a great place to shop for souvenirs, much more affordable than in big cities. The souvenirs include painted plates, handmade jewelry, spices, and Nubian scarves, all of which are truly unique. Sitting in the village, sipping traditional mint tea and listening to the locals sing and chat is a wonderful way to slow down and connect with the realities of Egyptian life. This trip wasn't just about sightseeing; it felt like a gentle encounter with culture and people.
