・Sima Tai Great Wall
It is said to be located in the steepest part of the Great Wall. Compared to the Badaling Great Wall near downtown Beijing, it is one of the few where you can see the original Great Wall. There are also fewer tourists, so you can climb the wall comfortably.
The greatest attraction of the Simatai Great Wall is that it is the only one of the many Great Walls that can be visited at night. The sunset and the Great Wall lit up in the dark are a must-see!
・Gubei Water Town
At the foot of the Simatai Great Wall, Gubei Water Town is a theme park that recreates the village where the soldiers who defended the Great Wall and their families lived.
You can see traces of China in the Ming and Qing dynasties. There are various restaurants and souvenir shops in the water town, so you can enjoy just looking around. There are also shows such as traditional performing arts, and at night, light shows using drones and projection mapping are held. You can also take a boat around the water town.
・Beijing Dragon Head Ranch
If you like horse racing and Uma Musume, you should stop by! There are graves of Mejiro Aldan and Cheers Bridley, stallions who were brought to China as breeding stallions. You can also feed carrots to the horses at the ranch.
Both places are located on the outskirts of Beijing and are difficult to get to by public transportation, so if you are going to go, I recommend renting a car (it's difficult for Japanese people to rent a car 😓) or chartering a taxi.
