Be sure to catch a sunset at the Summer Palace!

📍Summer Palace, China
🌉 One of China's most iconic attractions, the grounds are vast, so allow plenty of time. There's a beautiful park between the palace and the buildings. Some paths are quite steep and require climbing skills. It can get crowded on weekends. The ferry costs an additional fee. There are many restaurants nearby, but only snacks and drinks are available. Tickets can be purchased at the counter near the entrance; there's no need to buy online. Traveling by subway from the city center can be quite long and require a bit of walking, and taxis can be congested depending on which entrance you use. I recommend checking out the Marble Boat opposite the palace, as it's one of the highlights. From there, you can take a boat across the lake (about 40 yuan), which is very scenic and offers a clear view of the palace. The small souvenir shop opposite the Marble Boat also has surprisingly good quality merchandise. We visited about 10 years ago, and since then, the place has improved significantly, with improved management, accessibility, and still being as beautiful as ever. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience. The Summer Palace is beautiful and easily accessible from central Beijing, with a short subway and bus ride. We bought our tickets at the entrance, and the queue was very short that day. The surrounding scenery was stunning. It's a place where you can easily spend a few hours exploring and soaking up the scenery.
