Dear family, can you imagine? In the bustling city of Beijing, there is a hidden paradise that instantly lets your soul retreat into nature—the National Botanical Garden! Here, not only are there colorful flowers, plants, and trees like a spilled palette of nature, but various fascinating animals occasionally make guest appearances. Not to mention the rich and diverse routes for exploration. Whether you are out with kids, on a romantic date, or seeking solitude alone, you can find your own happy planet here. Today, follow me, a seasoned travel blogger, to embark on an in-depth exploration of the National Botanical Garden!
1. Tickets and Transportation: Cost-effective and Convenient
The ticket price for the National Botanical Garden is incredibly affordable—only 5 yuan! This cost-performance ratio is unbeatable. For parents wanting to take their children out for a stroll, this place is definitely the top choice. However, during the peak red leaf season, the number of visitors is quite large, making parking a big challenge. Especially on weekends, the surrounding traffic is as slow as a snail. For example, on the morning of October 26 at 11 a.m., within 5 kilometers of the Southeast Gate of the North Garden, almost all intersections in the southeast corner were traffic-controlled and closed to vehicles. Many visitors had to park 2 kilometers away from the Southeast Gate of the North Garden and walk there. So, if you live nearby, I strongly recommend biking directly to the garden entrance. It’s convenient, eco-friendly, and helps avoid traffic jams. If you must drive, definitely avoid the Xiangshan Red Leaf Festival, or you might learn a hard lesson like I did today.
2. Scenic Beauty Inside: Every Step a Picture
Walking into the National Botanical Garden feels like stepping into a dreamy fairy tale world. Various flowers and plants compete in beauty, with colors ranging from fiery red, rosy pink, to snowy white, pleasing to the eye. Strolling along the clean and tidy paths, the sunlight casts a soft glow. Sunlight filters through the leaves, warmly embracing you like nature’s gentle hug. Bright red berries dot the trees, dazzling like carefully embedded rubies by nature—truly breathtaking. Snap a photo with your phone, and every shot looks like a carefully crafted art piece, no filters needed.
If you catch the chrysanthemum exhibition, you’re in for a treat. Each chrysanthemum has a unique shape—some like hydrangeas, some like strands of hair, some like dragon claws—emitting a faint, elegant fragrance. Walking among the chrysanthemums feels like being immersed in a sea of flowers, intoxicating and unforgettable. Although I didn’t see many changing leaves or cute squirrels this time, the chrysanthemum exhibition alone made the trip worthwhile.
3. Routes for Different Needs: Diverse Choices
(1) Family Outing Route
For families with children, the National Botanical Garden is a natural classroom. Enter from the Southeast Gate of the North Garden, first visit the Science Popularization Hall, where vivid displays and interactive experiences help kids learn the mysteries of plants and nature. Then, head to Cherry Creek, stroll along the wooden boardwalk, listen to the babbling water, breathe fresh air, and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of nature. In Cherry Creek, you can explore various fascinating plants and insects with your children, sparking their curiosity and desire to explore. Finally, rest and picnic on the large lawn near the Peony Garden, letting the kids run and play freely, enjoying joyful family time.
(2) Romantic Date Route
Couples can enter from the South Garden, first take a lakeside walk hand in hand, admiring the shimmering water and weeping willows, feeling the gentle breeze as if the whole world belongs only to the two of you. Then, visit the Tropical Plant Exhibition Greenhouse, which gathers rare plants from around the world, like stepping into a mysterious green kingdom. In the warm greenhouse, you can explore various exotic plants together, take photos, and create beautiful memories. Finally, sit on the small hill near Liang Qichao’s tomb, overlooking the entire garden’s beauty, enjoying romance and tranquility.
(3) Solitude and Serenity Route
If you’re seeking peace alone, start from the Ma Lianliang Tomb and head directly to the National Botanical Garden Viewing Hall entrance. Take a walk inside, then go to Viewing Platform No. 4. Standing on the platform, you can gaze far and wide, taking in the entire garden’s stunning scenery, feeling refreshed and relaxed. Next, visit the Plum Garden and Cherry Creek to experience nature’s quietness and depth. Finally, go to the 129 Movement Education Base to commemorate the martyrs and feel the grandeur of history, giving your soul a cleansing and uplifting experience.
4. Tips for a Smoother Visit
1. Check the weather forecast in advance and choose a sunny day for a more comfortable visit.
2. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, as the garden is large and requires a lot of walking.
3. Bring enough water and food. Although there are sales points inside, prices may be a bit high.
4. Follow the garden’s rules, protect the plants and trees, and do not feed the animals.
The National Botanical Garden is like an endless treasure trove, with new discoveries and surprises every visit. Dear family, don’t hesitate any longer. Take some time this weekend to come here, feel the peace and beauty, and let your soul relax and heal in nature. Trust me, once you come, you’ll fall in love with this place!
