Beijing's Hidden Secret Ancient Pagoda: Yanping Eight Views! Yinshan Pagoda Forest

Yinshan Pagoda Forest is located in Xihu Village, Xingshou Town, 30 kilometers north of Changping District, Beijing. Due to the deep snow on the cliffs in winter, it is covered in silver and white, also known as the "Silver Mountain Iron Wall." It is the foremost of the famous "Yanping Eight Views" from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
During the Tang Dynasty's Zhenguan period, a temple was first built on Yinshan. In the Liao Dynasty's Shouchang period, Master Man founded Baoyan Temple on Yinshan. Later, it was expanded to become a group of Buddhist pagodas. Subsequently, several large and small temples were built.
In 1997, Yinshan Pagoda Forest was officially opened as a tourist attraction. It is located in the Ming Tombs Special Zone, about a 60-kilometer drive from downtown Beijing. The scenic area contains a large cluster of pagodas, some several zhang tall, others only a few chi in diameter, arranged at varying heights but with consistent octagonal floor plans. There are 18 ancient pagodas, including 7 brick pagodas with dense eaves, among which 5 date back to the Jin Dynasty.
