Beijing's hidden gem! Encounter the miracle of Wuta Temple's light and shadow under a 600-year-old ginkgo tree 🍂
✨Recommended reason: An alternative to the Forbidden City! A little-known Buddhist sanctuary hidden in the city✨
📍Address: No. 24, Wuta Temple Village, Haidian District (10-minute walk from the northwest gate of the Zoo)
🚌 Transportation tips: Exit C of National Library Station on Metro Line 4, then a 5-minute shared bike ride directly to the temple
1️⃣ Main Pagoda Area of Wuta Temple
The 600-year-old ginkgo tree in front of the Vajra Throne Pagoda is definitely the star! Golden fallen leaves cover the blue brick ground, instantly transporting you back to old Beijing
📸 Tips: It’s best to take photos before 10 a.m. when the sunlight slants perfectly on the pagoda
2️⃣ Reflection in the Northern Pond
A hidden photo spot! The pond reflects the complete image of the five pagodas. There may be a queue, but it’s definitely worth it
⚠️ Note: The best light is after 3 p.m. Don’t forget to bring a wide-angle lens
🔥 Must-grab deal: There are over 30 free stamps scattered around the museum. Bring a notebook to collect them!
🍜 Nearby Food
"Lishuiqiao Roast Duck" at the east gate of Zizhuyuan Park: Affordable roast duck certified by locals
"Xian Laoman" near Zoo Metro Station: Old Beijing dumplings paired with Laba garlic are amazing
🌞 Tips to avoid pitfalls:
- Closed on Mondays! Don’t make a wasted trip
- Ginkgo season (mid-October to early November) sees a huge increase in visitors, so weekdays are recommended
- Stamp stations sometimes change locations, so ask the staff. Seven stamps in the central exhibition hall are fixed. Wooden stamps might be found in the cultural and creative center or on small wooden tables in the corridor. The temporary exhibition hall also has some unique stamps.
— Ticket prices at Wuta Temple vary throughout the year
