Three Bays of Kanas
Recommended Itinerary: Fairy Bay -> Moon Bay -> Crouching Dragon Bay
Fairy Bay to Moon Bay: This section can be covered by bus as there are no lake views. Remember to climb the observation deck—otherwise, you’ll miss the highlight.
Moon Bay to Crouching Dragon Bay: This is the essence of the hike. The autumn scenery with the lake and snow-capped mountains is breathtakingly beautiful.
There are two hiking routes: along the road or along the riverside valley. Make sure to take the riverside valley trail—the wooden boardwalk will surprise you endlessly.
Note: Moon Bay has three observation decks (high, middle, and low).
Viral S-Bend: After getting off the bus, enter the underground tunnel and walk a few hundred meters to a fork. First, climb the stairs to the highest observation deck for the famous S-Bend photo and a panoramic view of Moon Bay.
Riverside Valley: After photographing the S-Bend, don’t continue along the road. Instead, retrace your steps downward to the fork, then keep descending to reach the middle and lakeside observation decks.
Hike to Crouching Dragon Bay: Continue downward to the very bottom. When you see the wooden boardwalk without handrails on either side, keep going down until you reach the lakeshore. Then, follow the lakeside boardwalk to Crouching Dragon Bay. This is the most stunning section of the Three Bays hike.
Hiking Time: From Moon Bay to Crouching Dragon Bay, with stops for photos, it took me 2 hours—use this as a reference.

Accommodation Tips:
I stayed at Tingbo in the scenic area. The wooden cabin was cozy, with floor heating, and very convenient.
