Magical Busan

The most memorable moment of my overnight trip to Gijang, Busan, was undoubtedly visiting Haedong Yonggungsa Temple. Departing early in the morning from my accommodation, I arrived at the temple, which is uniquely situated by the sea, creating a completely different atmosphere from typical mountain temples. From the moment I entered, the refreshing sea breeze and the sound of waves welcomed me, providing a rejuvenating start to the day.
The temple's interior is adorned with charming statues, pagodas, and bridges, offering new sights at every turn. Particularly, the dragon sculptures and walking paths set against the backdrop of the sea are famous photo spots, where I spent quite some time admiring the scenery. Strolling through the temple while listening to the sound of waves was a healing experience in itself, allowing me to momentarily set aside the busyness of my Busan trip.
What impressed me the most during the visit was how the scenery transformed completely depending on the time of day. While the temple under the clear morning sunlight was beautiful, the moment when the sunset painted the sea in red hues perfectly captured the essence of the trip. If you have a one-night itinerary, I highly recommend timing your visit for either the morning or sunset.
Haedong Yonggungsa is not just a tourist spot but a place that offers tranquility and leisure during your journey. If you're planning a one-night trip to Gijang, Busan, starting or ending your journey at this ocean-view temple would be an excellent choice.
