Carcassonne is like stepping into a medieval fantasy. The double-walled fortress, with its 52 towers, rises dramatically above the Aude River. Walking the cobblestone streets inside the citadel felt surreal—every turn revealed stone arches, narrow alleys, and hidden courtyards. I joined a guided tour that revealed stories of sieges, knights, and Cathar history. From the ramparts, the views of vineyards and countryside were breathtaking. At night, the fortress glows golden, making it feel even more magical. Carcassonne isn’t just a city—it’s a living medieval storybook.
