On this self-drive trip along Hainan’s west coast, I discovered a hidden gem resort in Changjiang! The Hainan Hope Qizi Bay Homeland Resort Hotel we stayed at is truly amazing. For just over 300 per person, you can enjoy the perfect Mediterranean-style white houses plus a private beach combo, completely shattering my stereotype that hotels in Hainan are outrageously expensive💯
🌊 Stunning Appearance:
Pure white buildings paired with a deep blue pool, arched corridors, and palm trees make every snapshot look like an Instagram masterpiece! My favorite spot is the 180° viewing platform in the lobby, where you can watch the sunset paint the entire Qizi Bay red—no filter needed.
🛏️ Room Highlights:
We booked a garden view room with excellent value. The 45㎡ space is spacious enough, and you can see a sea of coconut trees right from the balcony. Thoughtfully, the bathroom has a three-part separation design and comes with a drying rack with a drying function, super friendly for after-water activities!
🌴 Nearby Activities:
• A 5-minute walk to Qizi Bay Beach, which is rarely crowded and full of shells—perfect for kids to explore the tide pools for hours.
• The hotel offers a free daily shuttle to the famous Bawangling Scenic Area (recommended to go early to avoid the heat).
• The front desk can book professional instructors for surfing and sailing, at half the price of Sanya.
🍤 Foodie Guide:
• The hotel’s buffet breakfast features freshly cooked Hainan noodles and Qingbuliang (a local dessert). Don’t forget to try the local small sour kumquats dipped in seafood.
• A 10-minute drive to Changhua Town, where I recommend the salt and pepper mantis shrimp and mango conch at "Haixiang Seafood Food Stall."
• Night owls must try the street stir-fried ice cream topped with crushed peanuts and condensed milk—absolutely delicious.
💡 Tips:
1. Renting a car is recommended (the hotel offers free parking), as nearby attractions are quite spread out.
2. May to September is the off-season but with big temperature differences, so bring a light jacket to protect against the sea breeze.
3. The sunset at Qizi Bay is more spectacular than the sunrise, so secure your spot by 5 PM.
