In the midst of Chiang Mai's vibrant Loi Krathong celebrations, I found myself in an unexpected haven of peace - Wat Saimoon.

My initial quest for a restroom led me down lantern-lit paths, away from the festival's lively crowds, and into the quietude of this lesser-known temple.

As night enveloped the city in a festive glow, Wat Saimoon stood as a sanctuary of calm. The soft flicker of candles and the gentle rustle of leaves in the cool night breeze created an atmosphere of tranquility. The temple's modest yet elegant architecture, bathed in the soft light of the moon and lanterns, offered a stark contrast to the energetic festivities outside its walls.

This unexpected detour was a reminder of the diverse experiences one can stumble upon during Thailand's beloved festivals - from the exuberant celebrations to the serene, introspective moments within ancient temple grounds.
