🏘Wat Dab Phai was established in 1577. Originally named Wat Apai or Wat Tung Kradang, legend has it that when Phraya Apai fell ill, he sought treatment in various ways but failed to improve his condition. He then prayed before Phraya Apai, praying for relief. His illness immediately disappeared.
🏡Phraya Apai then ordered his children and followers to build houses near the temple and renovate it. He renamed it Wat Dab Phai and enshrined Phraya Apai here.
Highlights of the temple include:
🏠Lanna-style vihara, with a pediment decorated with stucco floral designs. Inside, Phraya Apai is enshrined.
⛺Lanna-style ordination hall, with a pediment decorated with stucco floral designs and lotus flowers set against blue glass. Inside, a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture is enshrined.
🛕Lanna-style chedi, situated on a square base, is elevated by an octagonal garland of vines, layered over three levels. Above this is covered in gold leaf.
🛖 The well is believed to be a sacred well from the time of King Inthawarorot Suriyawong.
