🏘Wat Phan Tao or Wat Pan Tao was built in 1934 and used to be the monastic district of Wat Chotikaram (Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan). It is assumed that the area where Wat Phan Tao is located used to be the home of a wealthy man named Phan Tao. Later, a temple was established during the reign of Phraya Saen Mueang Ma.
🙏🏽 Another legend says that the original location of the temple was the location of a thousand stoves, which were used to melt gold to cast the Phra Attharot Buddha image, which was enshrined in the Wihan of Wat Chedi Luang. When the casting of the Buddha image was complete, the townspeople built a temple in that area called Wat Phan Tao.
Important and interesting things in the temple include:
🏡 Wihan Ho Kham, made of teak wood, was originally the Ho Kham of King Mahotarades. It was built when he was promoted from Phraya Uparat to Phraya Chiang Mai Maha Wong. It was built to enshrine a Buddha image. Inside is the image of Phra Chao Pan Tao (Thousand-fold), which means success will increase by a hundred-thousand-fold.
🧱Ho Kham Temple was registered as an ancient site in 1980.
🛕 Bell-shaped pagoda on an octagonal base, surrounded by surrounding pagodas.
🗼 Ancient pulpit, built by King Inthawichayanon in 1873, built alongside the principal Buddha image in Ho Kham Temple.
