Rati Lanna Riverside Spa and Resort in Chiang Mai, with its long name, was previously known as Sofitel Chiang Mai five years ago before becoming a local brand for over a decade. Currently, it's incredibly affordable—definitely worth a visit!
1. Overall - The resort is beautiful, spacious, with great rooms, excellent breakfast, a massive swimming pool, and a good gym (though a bit outdated).
2. Location - It's near the old city and by the Ping River. The immediate surroundings of the hotel aren't particularly scenic, but within a 5-minute drive, there are plenty of attractions.
3. Rooms - We stayed in a Deluxe Riverview room, which is 60 sqm. It's spacious with high ceilings and a large balcony. Normally, we opt for suites, but this Deluxe room felt exceptionally large. The bathroom is luxurious for a Deluxe room, featuring a waterfall, TV, and a big bathtub—truly worth every penny. It comes equipped with amenities reminiscent of a luxury hotel from the past—a true five-star luxury resort.
4. Common Areas - The riverside area is stunning, and the lobby's roof is impressive. The swimming pool is enormous, almost like a lake. However, the deck and riverside dining areas feel old and worn out, as if they belong to a different place. The hallway to the elevator is quite narrow, and there's only one elevator to access the rooms.
5. Service - The service, including check-in, in-room dining, breakfast, dinner, and gym, was excellent. The staff was attentive throughout our 10-day stay.
6. Food - The food is delicious, typical of hotel cuisine. While it may not rival famous restaurants, it's enjoyable and satisfying. The breakfast, in particular, is exceptional and offers great value for money.
