🍶 An Afternoon to Remember in Shaoxing – The Yellow Wine Town
Have you ever dreamed of a slow Jiangnan afternoon – just sitting quietly by the river, listening to the breeze stir the fragrance of old wine, and watching black-awning boats drift by?
In Shaoxing, just a 20-minute taxi ride from Shaoxing North Railway Station, I found my little hideaway – Hear & Rest · Jiu Yi Tang, a homestay right by the water next to the former residence of Xu Zhilan. Open the window and there it is: a living painting of river, boats, and willows swaying gently over the water.
In the afternoon, I did what the locals do – ordered a plate of aniseed tofu. You don’t have to drink yellow wine; try a yellow wine latte or glutinous rice milk tea instead. Then simply sit on the riverside bench, watch the boats pass, and let time slow down.
Shaoxing intoxicates you not just with its wine, but with its rare, tranquil moments.
✨ Don’t Miss:
Touring the old wine breweries and the Yellow Wine Museum
Visiting Xin Bridge and Xu Zhilan’s former residence
Trying Shaoxing’s unique yellow wine popsicle!
☕ Start your day with coffee, end it with a sip of yellow wine at Dongpo Memory Lane – a cozy spot right inside the homestay.
🪨 If you have time, visit Keqiao Old Town, Keyan Scenic Area, or Xuantang Lake – all just 10–20 minutes away.
