Choosing the right accommodation in Dali can truly double your travel happiness! This hidden homestay near the ancient town is what I'd call a "sanctuary for the soul" – after staying for 5 days, I couldn't bear to check out!
🌌 Romantic views of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake right outside your window
The location is unbeatable! Just minutes' walk to Dali Ancient Town for night markets and snacks, yet stepping into the courtyard feels like entering another world – a Bai-style garden surrounded by succulents and water features. The rooftop terrace faces Cangshan Mountain directly, where sunset paints the sky in breathtaking hues, perfect for wallpaper-worthy phone photos.
Rooms are named after Dali landmarks. The "Cangshan" room exudes understated elegance, while "Erhai" room offers romantic refinement. Our "Butterfly Spring" room featured floor-to-ceiling windows – drawing the curtains each morning revealed mist drifting halfway up Cangshan Mountain, making us feel like we'd stepped into a painting.
The spacious 60㎡+ rooms are incredibly comfortable, with walk-in closets for all luggage. The couple's bathtub faces the window scenery – sipping wine while stargazing during a soak is what vacation dreams are made of!
👨👩👧 Service so thoughtful you'll forget about going home
The dual-butler system won me over! By day, the head butler chauffeurs you around attractions without waiting – no matter how long you linger over Xizhou baba pastries, he's always waiting by the car, serving as both driver and guide to maximize your time.
Evening butlers bring warm milk and sweet congee, with discreet ginger tea during periods. When we casually mentioned craving flower cakes, freshly baked ones appeared at breakfast next morning – such thoughtful touches warmed our hearts.
At checkout, we discovered the towels, bathrobes, and linen slippers were personalized keepsakes! Even the peachwood comb bears the homestay's logo, now a daily reminder of our Dali days.
🏡 Comfort woven into every detail
Plush fleece bathrobes are sleepwear-soft, while the mattress and pillows (later learned to be Mousse and imported latex) made mornings irresistible.
Shiseido toiletries come with disposable bath bags, body lotion, and noise-canceling earplugs. Smart toilets and heated towel racks outshine five-star hotels.
Each room's tea set invites morning rituals – brewing Yunnan pu'er on the balcony converted even my tea-indifferent boyfriend to this leisurely pleasure.
🌿 Worthwhile ways to "waste time" in the courtyard
The rooftop garden is a hidden photo spot! Swings, glass bubbles, and wooden benches against Cangshan's backdrop create perfect silhouette shots at dawn (our social media blew up with location requests, especially since there are no photobombers!).
The art corridor displays local paintings, while the reading nook's Dali-themed books make rainy days perfect for couch lounging with raindrop melodies – time slows beautifully here.
Afternoon complimentary desserts like rose-white fungus soup or papaya water taste authentically local. Sipping these among courtyard succulents embodies
🍜 Dali flavors to remember
Breakfast surprises daily – freshly boiled rice noodles with local pickles, crispy-outside-soft-inside Xizhou baba, Yunnan baby corn and flower cakes satisfy simply yet deeply.
For lazy evenings, the homestay's self-service kitchen lets you cook er'si noodles with butler-procured ingredients – enjoying them with rooftop night views beats any restaurant.
At Boxinyunshe, I finally understood why people say "Dali is addictive". No rushed itineraries, no guidebook stress – just sunbathing, cloud-watching, and tea-sipping in the courtyard. This slow, healing rhythm might be travel's most precious gift.
