The Three-Inch Golden Lotus Museum is located in the Jianchuan Museum Cluster in Anren Town, Dayi County, Chengdu, Sichuan Province.
Established: 2005 (one of the first themed museums in the Jianchuan Museum Cluster).
Theme: Using "foot binding culture" as a starting point, the museum showcases the history and customs of foot binding among ancient Chinese women, revealing the oppression of women in the feudal era, and prompting reflection on the dross of traditional culture.
2. Exhibition Content and Features
Exhibits:
Three-Inch Golden Lotus Shoes: Hundreds of pairs of foot binding shoes (embroidered shoes, bow shoes, sleeping shoes, etc.) from different periods and regions, the smallest of which is only 9 cm.
Foot Binding Tools: Foot binding tools such as foot binding cloth, wooden basins, scissors, etc.
Documents and Images: Foot binding prohibition documents, folk songs, old photos, and prints from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China.
Scene Restoration:
Simulated scenes of ancient women binding their feet, such as boudoirs, foot washing tables, etc.
Step-by-step models of the foot binding process (some content may cause discomfort).
Critical Perspective:
Through display boards and documentaries, the museum reveals the physical and mental devastation of women caused by foot binding and the feudal ethics behind it.
