The collection is housed in a breathtaking building designed by the architect responsible for the Louvre Pyramid. I picked up a book in the gift shop first (prices are steep there) and relaxed for a bit in the charming café with an incredible view, planning out my visit. The guide highlighted the most remarkable pieces. Among them was Clive of India's dagger, valued at £1 million and prohibited from leaving the UK. Other significant works included a rug from the Sforza palace in Milan, beams from the Cordoba Mezquita/Cathedral, and curtains from the Alhambra. It took me two visits to feel like I truly appreciated the collection.
