I love Scotland

Just off Edinburgh’s bustling Royal Mile, a cheerful souvenir shop beams with unapologetic pride—its “I ❤️ Scotland” sign practically winks at passersby. Inside, the air is thick with tartan nostalgia: plush Highland cows, miniature bagpipes, and fridge magnets shaped like castles and kilts. Tourists giggle over Nessie plushies while debating which shortbread tin looks most regal. It’s a place of playful patriotism, where Scotland’s symbols are lovingly distilled into pocket-sized joy.
Step outside, and the mood shifts dramatically. Across the way rises the majestic Royal Bank of Scotland building, crowned by its iconic green dome—a beacon of civic confidence and neoclassical elegance. The dome, with its oxidized copper patina, glows softly against the grey stone, like a mossy crown atop a financial fortress. Corinthian columns flank the entrance, and the symmetry feels almost ceremonial. It’s not just a bank—it’s a statement of Edinburgh’s historic stature in commerce and architecture.
