About Enoshima Beach (江の島)
Enoshima is a small island located off the coast of Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, just about an hour by train from Tokyo. It is famous for its long beaches, beautiful sunsets, and views of Mount Fuji on clear days. In addition to being a summer resort, Enoshima also has Enoshima-jinja Shrine, Sea Candle Lighthouse, Iwaya Cave, and many delicious seafood restaurants.
How to get to Enoshima
From Tokyo (Shinjuku):
Take the Odakyu Line (Odakyu Enoshima Line) from Shinjuku Station to Katase-Enoshima Station (about 65 minutes, 630 yen, if you take the “Romancecar” it will be faster).
From Yokohama:
Take the JR Tokaido Line or Shonan-Shinjuku Line to Fujisawa Station, then transfer to the Enoden or Odakyu Enoshima Line (total time about 50 minutes).
Take the Enoden (seaside blue train):
This is a very popular experience because the train runs close to the sea, stopping at many beautiful spots such as Kamakura, Hase (Great Buddha Temple).
Best time to visit
Summer (July–August): The beach is at its most vibrant, crowded with many beaches, fireworks festivals and marine sports activities.

Early autumn (September–October): The weather is still warm but there are fewer people, suitable for walking, sightseeing and enjoying seafood.
Winter (December–February): On clear days, you can clearly see Mt. Fuji in the distance when standing on the beach or lighthouse tower.
Sunsets all year round: Enoshima is considered one of the most beautiful sunsets near Tokyo.
