Linjiang Village on the banks of the Ergun River

We drove from Genhe to Linjiang Village, enjoying breathtaking scenery along the way: birch forests, roadside wildflowers in full bloom, fields of golden rapeseed and wheat, and a magnificent landscape.
The Ergun River, the upper reaches of the Heilongjiang River, flows quietly along the banks of Linjiang Village, winding along the Sino-Russian border.
The hostess of our guesthouse, Xunmeng Linjiang Inn, was warm and friendly. There's a shop in the village specializing in Russian bread, "Dal Leba," and the loaves are enormous.
Late in the evening, we climbed a nearby hill to admire the stunning sunset over the Ergun River. This moment reminded me of Li Shangyin's poem "Climbing Leyouyuan" from the Tang Dynasty: "...driving up the ancient plain, the sunset is infinitely beautiful, but it's almost dusk."
