Lin Zexu Memorial Hall in Fuzhou, China is a museum that introduces the life of Lin Zexu. Lin Zexu is known for leading the Opium War. Born in Fuzhou in 1785, Lin Zexu was a politician who tried to ban opium, which was widespread in China in the 19th century, leading to the Opium War with Britain in 1840. He was defeated and exiled to Xinjiang. Later, he regained his position as governor of Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, but died of illness in Chaozhou in 1850 while on his way to suppress the Taiping Rebellion. He is considered a hero who stood against Western aggression towards the Qing Dynasty. The exhibits in the memorial hall are not only documents but also include recreations using dolls and models, making it an easy-to-understand museum.
