On our last morning in Penang 🌞, we decided to visit Chew Jetty based on a local recommendation, saying it was one of the most beautiful sunrise spots. We weren't expecting much, but upon arriving, the atmosphere was truly amazing! 🥹💖
🏘️ What is Chew Jetty?
* From what we've researched, Chew Jetty is one of Penang's Clan Jetties, where Teochew Chinese immigrants settled since the 19th century.
* All the wooden houses are built on stilts over the sea 🌊, with a long wooden bridge extending into the water, giving it a very local feel.
* There's also a small Chinese shrine 🏮 in the middle of the community, serving as a spiritual center for the locals and a popular spot for tourists to pay their respects and pray before exploring the village.
🌅 Morning atmosphere
* Arriving at sunrise is the perfect opportunity. 🌄 The warm light hits the wooden houses and the long bridge, creating a truly local feel.
* There weren't many people in the morning 📸, so it was easy to walk around and take photos, enjoying the sea view, the morning light, and the community atmosphere.
* Unfortunately, we didn't have much time. Otherwise, you'll want to sit back and relax and watch the local boats leave the dock. 🚤
💡 Tips
* Arrive early, around 6:30–7:00 AM, to catch the full sunrise. ⏰
* Respect the local community, as there are real residents here. 🙏
* Wear comfortable clothing, as the seaside weather can be quite hot and humid. ☀️
✨ In short, Chew Jetty is a hidden gem, offering both local charm and beautiful views, especially in the morning. 🌅 Plus, you can stop by a shrine to pray for good fortune. 🏮 Don't miss it if you're in Penang!
