As your first stop in Ghent, you can choose to walk from Cataloniëstraat to the Old Church of St. Nicholas, which stands in the heart of the city. Open year-round, from 10:00-16:00, you can start earlier if you want to avoid the tourist crowd.

The bell tower is open every day from 10:00-18:00 all year round. To shoot architectural long-term views, it is recommended to go in the morning or dusk.
3. Earl’s Castle
Then walk to Sint-Veerleplein 11, a Dutch-style castle Earl’s Castle within easy reach. It’s well-preserved, with medieval armor, weapons displays that imagine ancient aristocratic life, and secret passageways and ancient stone walls.
