The Guangzhou Museum is located at No. 99 Zhenhai Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou (in Yuexiu Park). It is a comprehensive history Museum full of local characteristics. The predecessor of the museum was the Guangzhou Municipal Museum established in 1929. After many name changes, it has been called the Guangzhou Museum since 1950.
Historical background
The Guangzhou Museum is one of the first public museums in South China. Since its establishment, it has brought together about 135,000 sets of collections, including archaeological discoveries from Guangzhou throughout the ages, such as Qin Ge, Ming and Qing Guangzhou export works of art, etc.
The Zhenhai Building Exhibition Area of the museum displays Guangzhou's historical changes and humanistic spirit, while the Zhongyuan Building Exhibition Area displays Guangzhou's export works of art and special exhibitions on earth history and life evolution from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century.

The Guangzhou Museum has a total construction area of 7,600 square meters. The Zhenhai Building Exhibition Area is the main exhibition area, which shows Guangzhou's urban development and changes and humanistic spirit.The exhibition area of Zhongyuan Building has export works of art and special exhibitions on the history of the earth and the evolution of life.In addition, the museum also has the Sanyuanli People's Anti-British Struggle Memorial Hall and the memorial Hall on the former site of the March 29 Uprising Command, which respectively show the history of the Guangzhou People's anti-British struggle and the March 29 Uprising.
