Summary of a Trip to Guilin, Guangxi

4 Days 3 Nights from Hong Kong to Guilin

Day 1: Upon arrival, we visited 🏖️ Attractions/Facilities: Elephant Trunk Hill and Sun and Moon Pagodas. They were average, mainly good for photo ops.

Day 2: Early in the morning, we headed to 🏖️ Attractions/Facilities: Longji Rice Terraces. Truly a return to nature with its pastoral charm. We took a shared car for a 2-hour ride through winding roads. A must-visit is Ping'an Village, and you can choose to take a cable car up to Jinkeng Village and walk down. This can easily fill a day, so consider booking a one-day tour.

Day 3: Took a shared car to Yangshuo. Rented a bike for 30 yuan to explore the Ten-Mile Gallery and Butterfly Valley (a spontaneous decision). We also watched 🏖️ Attractions/Facilities: "Impression Liu Sanjie" (amazing stage effects, but the storyline was so-so). Remember to buy tickets online for 170 yuan each.

Day 4: The night before, at 8 PM, we used a WeChat mini-program to book 🏖️ Attractions/Facilities: Yulong River bamboo rafting from Jima to the Comprehensive Wharf. It's very popular, so consider other routes if unavailable. For two people, any section is enjoyable. If you have extra time, visit 🏖️ Attractions/Facilities: Gudong Waterfall or try river drifting. We ended the trip at Yangshuo High-Speed Rail Station (remember to book tickets 2 days in advance, as only first-class tickets might be left).

Guilin is incredibly affordable. Two people can eat for a day with just 200 yuan. Must-try dishes include Guilin rice noodles, beer fish, and bamboo chicken.

Lastly, I want to mention that buying fruits in Guilin is quite challenging. There are no dedicated fruit stores, and even searching specifically, we couldn't find any. I hope Guilin can improve in this regard. It's hard to imagine!
