Touching the Sky, My Journey to Karola Glacier.

#discoverchina
Standing at 5,560 meters, the Karola Glacier took my breath away—both literally and figuratively. As our car wound through the harsh, high-altitude deserts of the Tibetan plateau, sudden flashes of electric-blue ice appeared like a mirage against the barren mountains. Stepping out, the viewing platform is at 5020 meter above Sea level, the wind whipped with icy intensity, yet the glacier’s sheer scale left me awestruck. Its jagged crevasses glowed under the piercing Himalayan sun, while prayer flags fluttered wildly, tying earth to heaven.

Local Tibetan vendors in thick coats sold yak wool scarves, their smiles warm despite the freezing air. I pressed my hand to the ancient ice, feeling millennia of frozen history. The silence was profound—broken only by distant avalanches rumbling like thunder. In that moment, humbled by nature’s raw power, I understood why Tibetans revere these landscapes as sacred. A fleeting encounter with eternity.
