Hang Sung Sot Cave in Halong Bay

Halong Bay, located in northern Vietnam, is famous for its magnificent sea islands and peculiar caves. It is one of the attractions listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The thousands of islands on the sea here are like a beautiful painting, attracting tourists from all over the world. Among them, Hang Sung Sot is the most famous attraction and a must-visit place for visiting Halong Bay.

Hang Sung Sot is one of the largest and most beautiful stalactite caves in Halong Bay. The area of this cave reaches about 10,000 square meters. There are two huge stone chambers in the cave, connected by a narrow and winding stone path. When you walk into the cave, the first thing that comes into view is the stalactites, stalagmites, stone columns and stone curtains of various shapes. These naturally formed wonders are amazing. According to experts, the growth rate of stalactites is about 6 centimeters every 1,000 years. Such annual rings witness the long history of this cave.

Hang Sung Sot was discovered by the French in 1901 and is still one of the most representative attractions in Halong Bay. Visitors usually need to climb dozens of steps to enter the cave, but when you stand at the entrance of the cave, the magnificent scenery in front of you makes all the fatigue disappear instantly. Whether it is a few days of boat tour, the Surprise Cave has become a must-visit place for almost all itineraries.

In addition, the Surprise Cave was selected as one of the top ten most beautiful caves in the world by the World Heritage Association in 2012, and this honor also makes it more attractive. It attracts thousands of tourists every year, whether adventure enthusiasts or photographers, they all find their own fantasy here.
