A seaside town in Yu Hua's writing! The most healing place I've visited this year…

Check out the live photos!
If it weren't for Yu Hua's story about Haiyan,
I might never have discovered this magical seaside town in Zhejiang!

There are no crowded tourists here,
only an orange-scented sunrise over the sea 🌅 and a town full of everyday life vibes 🏡.
Perfect for a laid-back weekend! So chill~
(Make sure to come on a sunny day ☀️! Can't fit all 18 photos here 😅

🚘 Two-day, one-night relaxed travel itinerary:
Day 1️⃣ Shendang Old Street → Xuanhutang Café (check in at Shendang font wall) → Shengli Restaurant → Shendang Official Sauce Garden → Shendang Granary (bookstore check-in)
Day 2️⃣ Guanhai Park → Qiyuan Garden → Qiyuan Commercial Street → Fengyi → Nanbei Lake
.
▪️ Guanhai Park
Because of a line from Teacher Yu Hua,
“The most beautiful sunrise is in Haiyan,”
we got up at 4 a.m. to watch the sun jump out from the horizon, the sky dyed orange 🌅, and the sea breeze instantly woke us up! We even ran into the internet-famous big rooster 🐓 clucking…😁

▪️ Shendang Ancient Town
The ancient town is small, exuding a simple and lively atmosphere…
☕️ Xuanhutang Café: Check in at the “Shendang” internet-famous wall 🧱
🥣 Shengli Restaurant: Try Yu Hua’s favorite “stir-fried pig liver + yellow wine”! Two taels for a slight buzz, the prototype of “Chronicle of a Blood Merchant” 📖 was also here!

After touring the ancient town, you can check in at Shendang Official Sauce Garden for the wildly popular Shendang soy sauce ice cream 🍦—salty, sweet, strange but strangely addictive 🤣.
Then visit the Granary Bookstore, an old granary covered with climbing ivy 📚, cozy up in the cylindrical bookshelves to read and sip coffee ☕️ for the whole afternoon~

▪️ Qiyuan Garden
The 1987 version of “Dream of the Red Chamber” filmed Baochai chasing butterflies here~
The garden has scattered rockeries 🌳 and beautiful scenes every ten steps, perfect for photos!
Afterward, head to the nearby commercial street to eat preserved vegetable and fresh meat pies, crispy to the point of crumbling!

▪️ Nanbei Lake
A huge area! The only magical place in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai where you can see mountains, sea, and lake all at once! You can camp 🏕️, hike 🚶‍♀️, and climb mountains ⛰️…
I really love taking photos at the loquat orchard here 🤳🏻!
Have a cup of loquat coffee ☕️ and sit for an afternoon—it’s so cozy~

▪️ Fengyi
There are vast tea mountains, mining lakes, and air-raid shelters… On the mountaintop, there’s a viewing platform with beautiful scenery!
