A Journey Through Time: Immersive Warring States Robe Experience at Congtai Park

#discoverchina #handan
Stepping into Handan's Congtai Park feels like traveling back to the Warring States era—everywhere you look, young women dressed in *mtraditional curved-hem robes with flowing wide sleeves pose gracefully beneath ancient willows and pavilions. This historic site dates back to 325-299 BCE when King Wuling of Zhao built Congtai as a military review platform and entertainment venue.
The park's centerpiece, Wuling Congtai Tower, earned its name ("Cluster Tower") from its unique multi-terraced structure. Here, King Wuling implemented his legendary Hu Fu Qi She(胡服骑射)reforms - adopting nomadic cavalry attire and archery techniques - which propelled Zhao to prominence among the Seven Warring States Powers. The surrounding grounds served as the kingdom's military training fields.
Don't miss the inscribed stone tablet “Fúliú dōng jiàn, zǐqì xī lái" (滏流东渐,紫气西来)embedded in the south gate's western wall. This poetic couplet, meaning "The Fu River flows east while auspicious air comes from the west," was penned in 1922 by patriotic militarist Hu Jingyi.
🍎free entry for visitors wearing Warring States-style robes!(regular ticket: 30RMB)
