Located in D2 Place, Lai Chi Kok, the Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant "Greater China Club" is led by an award-winning culinary team. This includes Executive Chef Chan Wai Ting, who hails from a Michelin three-star restaurant and has won numerous culinary awards. The restaurant offers high-quality dim sum, Cantonese dishes, and handcrafted hot pots, all of which are creative and flavorful. 👍
Today, I visited with a few friends to try their new dishes. The chef skillfully combines ingredients with different sauces and cooking methods, delivering a delightful surprise for both the eyes and the palate. 😋
▪️ Chilled Abalone with Pomelo
The chilled abalone is well-marinated, tender yet bouncy, and pairs perfectly with the refreshing and aromatic pomelo.
▪️ Crystal Goose Liver Terrine with Shaoxing Wine
The goose liver terrine melts in your mouth with a rich, aromatic wine flavor. Paired with crispy crackers, it offers a delightful contrast of textures—crispy and soft. Truly exceptional.
▪️ Flaming Sea Whelks Baked with Sea Salt and Shaoxing Wine
Sea whelks are baked in a clay pot with sea salt and then flambéed with Shaoxing wine. Once the lid is lifted, the rich aroma of wine fills the air. The sea whelks are savory, fresh, and delightfully chewy.
▪️ Golden Mango Prawns
A refreshing summer dish featuring giant prawns coated in a sweet and tangy mango sauce. Topped with crispy golden threads, the prawns are incredibly bouncy and flavorful.
▪️ Crispy Angus Wagyu Beef
The Angus beef, with its beautifully marbled appearance, is of top quality. The crispy exterior encases perfectly cooked wagyu beef, which is tender and full of beefy flavor. Paired with a tangy yogurt sauce, it balances the richness of the beef beautifully.
▪️ French Spinach Sprouts in Golden Ear Mushroom Fish Soup
Golden ear mushrooms, a type of edible fungus, have a rich, savory flavor reminiscent of salted egg yolk. The creamy fish soup pairs wonderfully with tender French spinach sprouts, creating a dish that is both rich and refreshing.
▪️ Steamed Icelandic Halibut with Golden Garlic and Scallops over Fragrant Rice
An outstanding dish where the halibut, rich in fish oil, infuses the rice with its aroma after steaming. The halibut is tender and fatty, and when paired with the fish-flavored rice, golden garlic, scallops, and soy sauce, it’s so delicious that everyone finished it in no time.
▪️ Pomelo Jelly
The leaf-shaped pomelo jelly is visually stunning and exudes a strong pomelo fragrance. Its tangy and refreshing taste makes it the perfect dessert to cleanse the palate after a hearty meal.
