In Hong Kong, where every inch of land is precious, there’s a surprisingly special museum hidden away! The Heritage Museum in Kowloon Park was formerly a military camp and has transformed into a sanctuary for antiquities and historic relics✨ The exhibits showcase artifacts unearthed locally in Hong Kong. Although its history isn’t as long as mainland museums, it offers an in-depth understanding of Hong Kong’s architecture, culture, and changing times~
The museum’s design is incredibly thoughtful! The interactive exhibition areas are super fun. Each drawer labeled with a Hong Kong place name contains artifacts excavated from that specific area. Kids can explore hands-on and instantly become little archaeologists👦🏻👧🏻 There’s also a floor covered with porcelain unearthed near Disney, combined with light and shadow effects for a stunning visual impact! The restoration story of the Central gas lamp, broken by Typhoon Mangkhut, is very touching—it was carefully repaired in a British factory to bring back its former glory~
The biggest surprise is the free guided tour service! Although it’s only available in Cantonese, operates on a schedule, and has limited spots, the guides are super professional, and even kids listen attentively~ The one-hour tour takes you through Hong Kong’s history and is definitely the top choice for family outings and exploring off-the-beaten-path spots! Save this guide and come discover another side of Hong Kong here~
