The visually viral Instagram project "Accidentally Wes Anderson" (AWA) is holding a world tour exhibition, landing in Hong Kong this month. It is set up at The Mills in Tsuen Wan, featuring multiple themed exhibition areas that gather photography works, photo spots, and exclusive "AWA" souvenirs, with free admission! "Accidentally Wes Anderson" was created by American photographer Wally Koval and his partner as an Instagram account dedicated to collecting photos that accidentally showcase the unique aesthetics of famous director Wes Anderson. Whether in color composition or architectural style, the photos are filled with Wes Anderson’s vibrant colors, attracting fans worldwide.
The "AWA" exhibition has been held in Seoul, London, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Los Angeles, drawing over a million visitors cumulatively. This summer marks its first arrival in Hong Kong, running from July 15 to September 14 at The Mills. The venue features five major themed exhibition areas, each dominated by colors such as pink, red, blue, and orange. Over a hundred photography works from around the world are scattered across the "Hong Kong Theme Area," "Hotel Theme Area," "Doors and Facades Theme Area," "Swimming Pool Theme Area," and "Lighthouse Theme Area." Visitors can explore these areas throughout The Mills and take photos at spots like the pink hotel, the door and reception of The Grand Budapest Hotel, the pool diving board, the red and white striped lighthouse, nostalgic train seats, and a phone booth in the desert, capturing beautiful summer-themed photos and instantly transforming into movie characters!
The Mills also features a special limited clothing exhibition area on the ground floor, showcasing 1970s Hong Kong-made garment craftsmanship and recreating classic looks and styles from the films, paying tribute to Wes Anderson’s cinematic aesthetics and Hong Kong’s textile and garment industry. Don’t miss the AWA self-service photo booth and Hong Kong exhibition-exclusive "AWA" souvenirs, including postcards, embroidered and metal pins, phone holders, keychains, collectible cards, and more.
