Liujiang Ancient Town, a historic Southern Song Dynasty town nestled amidst mountains and rivers.

Liujiang Ancient Town, one of Sichuan's top ten ancient towns, boasts a history of over 800 years, dating back to the Southern Song Dynasty. Located in Hongya County, Meishan, Sichuan, the town is named Liujiang, though there is no river of that name nearby. Instead, it is surrounded by Mount Emei and Wawu Fairy Mountain, flanked by Houjia Mountain and Yuping Mountain, with Yangcun River and Huaxi River flowing through the town.

Originally a landing point for tea and horse trade routes, Liujiang Ancient Town is home to various attractions, including the stilted buildings showcasing Western Sichuan style, the Sino-Western fusion Zeng Family Garden, the nostalgic You Shui Pier, the riverside ancient plank road, the century-old residential streets, and the iconic Guangming Temple.

The town features numerous ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with the Zeng Family Courtyard being a highlight. The courtyard is designed in the shape of the Chinese character for "longevity" (壽). Life here moves at a leisurely pace, allowing visitors to savor the unique charm of Liujiang Ancient Town.
