š° After three days in Huizhou, my spending habits were totally trampled on the ground!
Who understands, family! I set off with a "light luxury vacation" budget, but ended up with a bulging wallet after playing in Huizhou. The cost performance was so high that I doubted my lifeāturns out happiness really doesn't have to be expensive! Hereās a tested three-day, two-night guide; follow it and you wonāt go wrong~
š Attractions: Free spots are even better than paid ones!
ā
Shuangyue Bay Viewing Platformš
I thought there would be an entrance fee, but we drove straight to the top! Standing high up, you see two bays lying like crescent moons by the sea. At sunset, golden light spreads over the sea. Posting photos got me bombarded with questions about the location, and the best part is it didnāt cost a penny!
ā
Yanzhou Island Heipai Capeš
An uncommercialized pristine beach, with black-striped reefs exposed at low tide that make for amazing photos. Get up early to catch the sunrise and watch fishermen gathering shellfish. Even the sea breeze carries the feeling of āfree happinessā~
ā
West Lake Scenic Areaš
Less crowded than Hangzhouās West Lake and free! Rent a bike to ride around the lake, pass by the Nine-turn Bridge and Sizhou Pagoda. During lotus season, the whole lake is fragrant. When tired, sit by the lake and enjoy an ice popāso relaxing youāll want to move here for retirement~
š¤ Food: Eat until you canāt walk for just 20 yuan!
Seafood stallsš¦
Just pick any local-favorite restaurant in the harbor town. Clams cost 15 yuan per jin, steamed grouper 50 yuan each, freshly caught and cooked to perfection! Three people had seafood feasts every meal, averaging 50 yuan each, which made us too full to walk. Compared to seafood prices in Guangzhou, it was jaw-dropping~
Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables Potš²
A must-order at local auntiesā small eateries! The preserved vegetables soak up the meatās aroma, and the pork belly is fatty but not greasy. Goes perfectly with riceāyou can show off eating two big bowls. A large pot for 25 yuan is enough for two people, carb happiness maxed out~
Hidden Desserts at the Sweet Soup Shopš§
5 yuan for a bowl of mung bean soup thatās smooth and sweet, 8 yuan for kelp mung bean dessert thatās perfect for cleansing the palate after dinner. Strolling over for these is way more practical than trendy dessert shops!
š Expense Breakdown (shocked face)
- Transportation: Round trip driving from Guangzhou, fuel + tolls ā 200 yuan (high-speed rail is cheaper, about 50 yuan per person direct)
- Accommodation: Seaside homestay with balcony and sea view, two nights averaging 300 yuan per person (book early in peak season!)
- Food & Drink: Three days of big meals + snacks, under 400 yuan per person
- Attractions: Almost zero entrance fees except optional boat rides or car rentals!
Total for three days and two nights, over 800 yuan per person and had a blast. This cost performance makes me wonder if I missed a zero š
š” Tips to Avoid Pitfalls
1. Donāt go to seafood places that aggressively solicit customers. Follow where the locals go and always ask prices before ordering~
2. The UV rays by the sea are super strong! Sunscreen, hats, and arm sleeves are a must, or youāll get sunburned like a āHuizhou-style coal ballā
3. Weekends are busier, so itās better to leave on Friday off-peak. Accommodation is cheaper and quieter~
Family, Huizhou is truly an underrated treasure! The joy of spending little and getting a lotāthose who come will know~ Quickly your budget travel buddy and rush over!
