Awesome Scenery Rivaling Geumgangsan: The Charm of Exploring Jujeongol and Heullimgol
Located on the southern side of Seoraksan Mountain, the Jujeongol and Heullimgol trails are a prime trekking route offering up-close views of Seoraksan's beautiful valleys and bizarre rock formations. They are particularly renowned during the fall foliage season, known as the "Fall Colors of Southern Seorak," rivaling those of Geumgangsan. The Heullimgol trail was previously closed due to the risk of rockfalls but has since reopened safely. However, to protect visitors, reservations are strictly required. Access may be limited, so be sure to check in advance. A typical one-way trail begins at the Heullimgol Visitor Information Center, passes Yeosim Falls and Deungseondae, and descends to Jujeongol.
Deungseondae (1,022 m) is Heullimgol's premier observatory, and while it's short, it requires a steep climb. Standing here, the vertical cliffs of the northwestern ridge and the bizarre rocky peaks unfold before your eyes, offering a panoramic view of Seoraksan's wild beauty. Descending past Deungseondae, you'll enjoy views of Deungseon Falls and Sipi Falls, before reaching Jujeongol Valley. Jujeongol Valley is a relatively gentle valley trekking course that begins at Osaek Mineral Spring and passes Yongso Falls. It's an easy walk for people of all ages, even in light sneakers. The rocky peaks of Heullimgol and the valleys of Jujeongol harmoniously blend together, making it the perfect course to experience the diverse landscapes of Seoraksan Mountain in a short period of time.
