Autumn Leaves in Shuzenji

Shuzenji is a slightly late-blooming area for autumn leaves, with the best viewing time around late November. Along both sides of the Katsura River, which is not particularly wide, there are walking paths where you can enjoy the autumn foliage accompanied by the gentle sound of the flowing river. The area is adorned with vibrant red trees such as Japanese maples and other maple varieties, creating a stunningly colorful scene. Additionally, the Bamboo Forest Path is a must-visit spot, where you can capture beautiful photos of the bamboo grove alongside partially autumn-colored trees. At night, the area is illuminated, offering an even more magical and enchanting view.
Shuzenji is not a very large tourist destination, so a one-night, two-day trip is sufficient to fully enjoy it. As it is also a hot spring area, staying at a hot spring inn or visiting one of the day-use hot spring spots is highly recommended to enhance your experience.
