Keijometo is a stylish, industrial-themed cafĂŠ in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, that has been gaining a lot of attention since it opened in 2022. With its raw concrete walls, minimalist decor, and Japanese-inspired menu, it offers a unique atmosphere that feels both modern and artisticâalmost like stepping into an urban art gallery.
The food here leans towards Japanese flavors with a creative twist. Their Mentaiko Tamago Sando (RM20) is a must-tryâa fluffy white bread sandwich stuffed with a soft omelette and topped with torched mentaiko for a creamy, umami kick. Another standout is the Salmon Ochazuke (RM30), a comforting rice bowl with baked salmon, served with a matcha-infused dashi broth that you pour over the dish for extra flavor. If youâre into fusion, the Truffle Carbonara Udon (RM28) blends rich, creamy carbonara with chewy udon noodles.
For drinks, theyâre known for their matcha-based creations, including the Watermelon Matcha Iced Latte (RM15)âthough opinions are mixed on this one, with some saying the watermelon taste overpowers the matcha.
Keijometo is located at 3, Jalan Chengai, Taman Melodies, Johor Bahru, and is open from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM (closed on Mondays). Because it's so popularâespecially with visitors from Singaporeâitâs best to go during off-peak hours to avoid long waits. If youâre looking for a cafĂŠ thatâs different from the usual cozy, plant-filled spots, this oneâs worth checking out!
