If you're in Kanazawa...you can't miss Higashi Chaya District.
As an Important Preservation District for Traditional Buildings,
the area's once bustling teahouse streets have been preserved.
Most shops are open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
I wanted to capture this streetscape on camera,
so I took photos at various times of the day.
First, the townscape at dusk.
I'd heard that Kanazawa gets a lot of rain, so an umbrella is essential,
and it was certainly true.
The chaya district after the rain was also charming and beautiful.
Enjoy a wide variety of Japanese sweets, including Japanese confections and gold leaf soft serve ice cream.
With plenty of restaurants and cafes,
it's also a great spot for enjoying a snack while walking around.
