Here's how I made the most of 2 days in the ancient city of Kashgar đ⨠Think Uyghur traditions, incredible street food, and super easy sightseeingâXinyi & Kashgar seriously deliver on unique vibes!
Top Spots to Visit:
Id Kah Mosque (North Jiefang Road, Kaxgar, Kashgar) is a must-see! Open year-round (10:00-14:00, 16:00-19:00, 20:00-21:30), this is the spiritual heart of Kashgar and the best place to dive into Uyghur culture. Pro tip: Go during early opening hours for a quieter experience and some peace for your photos.
Donât miss exploring nearby streetsâKashgarâs Old Town is buzzing with character, ancient alleys, and friendly locals. Youâll hear the Uyghur language everywhere (totally different from Mandarin) and meet people with their own custom and tasty snacks.
Foodie Alert: The food here is next-level. Try hand-pulled noodles, lamb skewers, and sweet naan bread from local food carts. Grab dinner near the mosque for authentic dishes and great people-watching.
Getting Around:
Everything is walkableâjust bring comfy shoes! Signs (in Chinese and Uyghur) make navigation easy, and the locals are super chill if you need help.
Travel Tips:
No visa drama if you have your China tourist visa sorted. Carry some cashâsmall shops may not take cards. Weather: Pack layers, mornings can start cool but heat up by midday.
Kashgar is perfect for slow exploringâyouâll feel welcome and safe, and you can enjoy authentic Uyghur hospitality every step of the way!
