[Malaysia, Borneo] A stylish city hotel designed by Kengo Kuma, "Hyatt Centric Jeju Kota Kinabalu"

Located on the island of Borneo, far from the Malaysian mainland, Kota Kinabalu is Malaysia's largest tourist city. The Borneo Jungle, a World Heritage Site, is a resort island where resort development is progressing. In November 2022, the four-star Hyatt hotel "Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu" opened in Kota Kinabalu. The price is reasonable for a Hyatt hotel, and the off-season is an exceptional price starting from 10,000 yen per person, but the quality and service are as luxurious as a first-class hotel. Above all, the hotel was designed and supervised by Kengo Kuma, one of Japan's leading contemporary architects, and the sophisticated design does not disappoint. The hotel is also committed to local production and consumption, and the building materials used are wood from Sabah, with bamboo decorations that give a Japanese feel in key areas. The interior is also arranged with a focus on Borneo culture.

The morning buffet has a wide variety of food, from Japanese, Western, Chinese, Malaysian to Indian, and all are delicious.
The rooftop is equipped with an infinity pool, fitness gym, and meeting room, which are free for guests. Of course, there is also a bar counter.

All rooms have a balcony with a panoramic view of Kota Kinabalu city.

Within walking distance is the commercial facility "Suria Sabah", which is convenient for souvenir shopping, the Sunday market, and the beachfront is easily accessible. It is also within walking distance of the port, the base for island hopping.

What I personally liked is that the room wear is made of jersey material that feels good on the skin and is from a famous brand.

The toilet and shower are completely separate, which is rare for overseas hotels and is very popular.
