Known in Indonesia as Taman Sari, this 18th-century royal garden and water palace was built by the Mataram Sultanate. Once a retreat for the Sultan and his consorts, it also served purposes of meditation, religious ceremonies, and military defense. The site blends Portuguese and Javanese architectural styles, with its most famous attraction being the "Royal Bathing Pool (Umbul Pasiraman)," where crystal-clear waters reflect ancient stone walls, creating an elegant and mysterious ambiance. Beyond the bathing pool, visitors can explore underground tunnels, hidden mosque ruins, and traditional craft shops nestled within the surrounding villages. Today, Taman Sari is not just a historical relic but a cultural highlight of Yogyakarta tourism, inviting visitors to step into the legendary era of the Sultanate.
