Just back from a whirlwind Kyoto adventure and here’s how you should do it if you want magic lantern streets, zen temple vibes, and epic Insta moments in one day 🇯🇵✨ The highlight? Fushimi Inari Taisha’s endless torii gates—total main-character energy!
Top Spots to Visit in Kyoto
1. Nene-no-michi (Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto) – Start your morning wandering this atmospheric lane—it’s open all day! This area channels old Japan with preserved teahouses and stone-paved streets. Pro tip: Come early for people-free photos!
2. Rokuharamitsuji Temple (81-1 Rokurocho, Higashiyama, Kyoto, 08:00-17:00) – A peaceful historic temple. Step inside for some soul-soothing quiet away from the crowds.
3. Ishibe Alley (Shimokawaracho, Higashiyama) – Also open all day and totally dreamy. This short street is pure Kyoto nostalgia—perfect for those “lost in time” snaps.
4. Kōdai-ji Temple (526 Shimokawara-cho, 09:00-17:30, last entry 17:00) – Gorgeous gardens and bamboo groves hide away at this lesser-known stunner. Don’t rush the zen vibes!
5. Fushimi Inari Taisha (68 Fukakusa Yabunouchicho, Fushimi Ward, open 24/7) – Save this until late afternoon or evening—the red torii pathway is quieter, almost mystical under soft lights.
How To Get Around: Kyoto’s bus system is a sightseeing cheat code—grab a day pass for unlimited rides. Google Maps is your friend on bus routes and times!
Food: Grab matcha ice cream or steaming yatsuhashi in Higashiyama, and eat at a no-frills ramen joint near Gion for a real Kyoto experience.
Extra Tips: Many streets are uneven—dress comfy. ATMs can be cash-only, so hit a convenience store (like 7-Eleven) for yen withdrawals.
