Wengji | A Brown Ethnic Village with Everything You Need

Wengji is a Brown ethnic village built along the mountain terrain, surrounded by ancient tea forests, with all buildings being traditional stilt houses. The village is not very large and follows a sloping road, so you can explore it in no time.

Here are some recommended spots:
🙏🏻 Buddhist Temple: Simple and elegant overall, located on a high platform. You need to climb a short flight of stairs to enter. This staircase is a popular photo spot. At the top, next to the entrance, there is a blooming bougainvillea, which also makes for great photos.
🌳 Ancient Cypress: Located near the Buddhist temple, the tree towers into the sky with a strong and sturdy trunk. Looking up, you see the vibrant greenery of nature, and the sound of cicadas instantly brings a summer vibe.
🏠 Brown Firepit Homestay: Behind the archway next to the homestay is a downhill path. Walking down this path, you see rolling tea mountains in the distance, with plants lining both sides of the road, perfect for photos. Going slowly downhill, you will encounter tribal-style homestays, which are very distinctive.
☁️ Sea of Clouds: A limited-time offering. When visiting Wengji on a rainy day, a sea of clouds appeared after the rain. White clouds like ribbons wrapped around the mountains, with mist coming and going, as if stepping into a fairyland.

After visiting several villages on Jingmai Mountain, I think Wengji is the most developed, with dining, accommodation, cultural creativity, and photography all available. From the outside, the houses seem to have well preserved their original style, but inside the rooms are quite well renovated. On the village paths, you can often see elements of ancient towns, such as prayer ribbons and colorful signboards.

Walking through the village, you feel its tradition while experiencing its commercialization. If you want convenience, this is a good choice, but if you want to experience a primitive village, you might be a bit disappointed.
