Leshan Travel Guide: Leshan Museum

Visit the Leshan Museum before heading to the Leshan Giant Buddha for a more comprehensive experience. The museum is usually quiet, so you can take your time to explore.
1. Transportation and location
The museum is located near the Leshan Giant Buddha. You can take a bus or taxi to get there.
2. Tickets and opening hours
Free admission. Open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Last entry at 6:30 pm. Closed on Mondays.
3. Museum content
The museum has three floors, but the second floor is an office area and is not open to the public.
The Giant Buddha exhibition hall is on the first floor and introduces the history of the Leshan Giant Buddha, such as the three generations of builders who dedicated their lives to the construction of the Leshan Giant Buddha, and the pavilion that was built to protect the Buddha but disappeared in the river. You can also learn about the architecture: Why is there a hole in the back of the Buddha's head? How is the Buddha's hair so realistic and well-preserved?
