1. Transportation and Route:
Starting from Lhasa, take the Jingzang Expressway, exit at Yangbajing, and switch to Provincial Road 304. The journey takes about 3 hours on cement roads. It is recommended to start early to allow sufficient time. Along the way, enjoy natural scenery such as alpine meadows and yak herds, and cross a pass over 5,400 meters above sea level to get a panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains. The entrance fee to the scenic area is only 10 yuan for sanitation purposes, with no additional tickets or border permits required.
2. Best Seasons and Scenic Features:
- Winter (December to April): The lake freezes into a blue ice lake, with unique ice cracks and snow-capped mountain reflections, making it ideal for photography.
- Summer (May to November): The lake is a vibrant blue, with glaciers and the lake complementing each other. You can observe icefalls and glacier textures up close.
3. Hiking and Touring Suggestions:
- A half-hour walk from the foot of the mountain leads to the sacred lake, with trails and railings along the way, suitable for short hikes.
- For deeper exploration of glaciers or off-road paths, an additional hour of walking is required. Be mindful of high-altitude winds and low temperatures.
4. Equipment and Precautions:
- It is recommended to bring windproof jackets, gloves, and other warm clothing. Anti-slip shoes are necessary for walking on ice, and avoid prolonged stays on the ice.
- Those prone to severe altitude sickness should carry oxygen. There is no public transportation within the scenic area, so self-driving or car rental is required.
5. Unique Experiences:
- Drones can be rented to capture panoramic shots of the ice surface, where the ice patterns resemble 'traces of time.' In winter, you can also experience sitting and interacting on the ice for photos.
