The Dai Residence, also known as the Zhichong Hall, was originally located in Wu Village, Muchen Township, Longyou County. Built in the late Ming Dynasty, it is a two-story, three-bay building. The Dai family migrated from Longwu, Anhui Province during the Ming Dynasty and developed a papermaking industry using the local bamboo resources. From the late Ming Dynasty to the Taiping Rebellion, the Dai family prospered, selling paper to Shanghai, Pukou, Hangzhou, and other places. With their wealth, the family built four buildings: Zhichong Hall, Ligeng Hall, Yihe Hall, and Xingren Hall. Zhichong Hall and Ligeng Hall are the only ones that remain. It is a key cultural relic protection site in Zhejiang Province.
